It all began with a wedding rehearsal dinner party.Cathy Brantingham-Moyle was requested by her brother to provide the entertainment for his wedding rehearsal dinner. Cathy was aware that videos or slide shows were commonly used for this, but she wanted something different- something more. She wanted entertainment that would have a purpose in the celebration, a game that would be a sit down ice breaker and allow two families that did not really know each other very well to become better acquainted at this event. The game should also be loads of fun and be interactive, including everybody as a participant. The idea of PicGo (a Bingo-style game using family pictures) came to her as an inspiration.
Knowing that pictures could remind people of wonderful stories, Cathy collected pictures from both families. She began to hand-create PicGo playing cards with random pictures on them and a Master Card for the Game Master to use for playing the game. Cathy knew that if people were given an opportunity to share their fun stories with the group, that everybody would have a great time and her mission would be accomplished. Several days later the first-ever episode of PicGo had been created and was ready to play.
The rehearsal dinner and game were a huge success. Stories were told that brought the laughter, tears, and comraderie that accompanies true bonding. Everybody there began to feel like they knew wonderful things about each family, and they had a ball playing the game!
Since that inspired beginning we have had software written that allows creation of custom PicGo episodes on a PC computer using any computer file of suitable images. Game Cards and Master Cards can then be printed using an ink jet or a laser printer, making PicGo Games the perfect entertainment solution for any group event.
